@TheGussReport - Sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but now that the mid-terms have passed, LA’s termed-out hometown weenie, Mayor Eric Garcetti, may finally get a senate vote on his nomination to become Ambassador to India as early as Thursday.
Way back on January 3rd, Presidential Nomination 788 was returned to President Joe Biden because too much time had passed without a vote due to investigations into Garcetti’s dubious claims, including that he never saw sexual harassment by his buddy and literal right-hand man, Rick Jacobs, even though it was right under his nose, in front of a camera and confirmed by credible witnesses.
But what do you expect from someone who said he held his breath while taking maskless photos at NFL playoff games with Magic Johnson and other celebrities while ordering everyone else to wear masks due to the pandemic? The rules apply to the hoi polloi but not to the rich, famous and powerful.
Biden had a right to either nominate someone else for the appointment or take a second shot with Garcetti, which he did in re-nominating him the next day, on January 4th. On January 12th it was placed on the Senate Executive Calendar, which is where it quietly sat for most of the year as a sort of punishment for Garcetti, at least until after the mid-terms, as PN1579.
It is unclear whether Garcetti’s second nomination must go thru the committee process that tripped up his first one.
At any rate, it is amazing how things changed after Garcetti’s parents, former LA District Attorney Gil Garcetti and his wife Sukey, mortifyingly hired a lobbyist to buy their millionaire munchkin a consolation political job that he does not deserve and failed to get on his own during his first nomination process.
Funny how the same politicians who scream for accountability and fairness stay silent when it comes to privilege and dishonesty among their own species.
