Angry Mob 3, LA City Hall 0
Racism Scandal Results In Three Derailed Meetings And Counting. And Guess Who May Be In Trouble With Ethics?
It looks like the geniuses at LA City Council are in a pickle.
With Nury Martinez finally realizing that she had to resign in disgrace late yesterday, Jamba Juice Mitch O’Farrell, the president pro tem, is running the show, except that his dearth of leadership is now front and center.
It appears that Martinez’s partners in hatred, Councilmembers Gil Cedillo and Kevin de León ain’t going nowhere, at least in terms of resigning.
A justifiably angry mob, including many aficionados of The People’s City Council, has demonstrated its ability to shut down the meetings, as I predicted on Monday:
“There is precisely zero percent chance that even a single City Council meeting can move forward with so many voices calling for Martinez, Cedillo, de León and Herrera to resign.”
- The Guss Report, Monday, October 10th
It was just an educated guess that came true, as evidenced by this hot-off-the-presses notification from the City Clerk:
As I told “The John and Ken Show” on KFI-AM 640 yesterday afternoon, Cedillo is a few weeks away from being out of office due to his losing outright in the spring primary. He doesn’t want to go down in the history books, or Wikipedia, as resigning in disgrace due to racism. We get it.
But apparently, de León won’t leave either, because he is now unemployable and knows that the buffoons in City Hall, including the soon-departing City Attorney Mike Feuer, he of the LADWP corruption scandal, have no mechanism to remove him, so he might as well scoop-up his paychecks, sit on his duff and not do any work.
Which has been de León’s norm, as I wrote over at CityWatchLA.
The Score:
Mob: 3 (derailed/canceled meetings)
City Hall: 0 (progress)
Good luck relying on Mitch & Mike to figure it out. Because right now, the people’s business ain’t going nowhere, either.
By the by, has anyone ever looked more awkward walking a dog, especially since he has never had a dog, than Mike Feuer? Who knew? A phony LA politician from his failed 2022 mayoral campaign, walking in a place he would never go in real life, with a canine actor named Martin, who he hired to pretend to be his friend.
The LA Times repeatedly told us to elect these fools. But the Times has its own problems, with Nika Soon-Shiong allegedly abusing her influence with papa’s media outlet toy. Seems rich kids get mad when people point out their privileged abuse of power:
Anyhoo, I’ve not had a chance to dig into this, but it appears that racist and homophobic Paul Koretz is being investigated for Ethics violations.
Again.
I have no idea. But the man is desperate. Sink him and go with the guy who, as City Controller, will audit the crap out of City Hall: CPA Kenneth Mejia. He owes, and will give, no favors to anyone.
All the favorite crooks and haters…have at it, ding-a-lings. The rest of us are, indeed, with “The Blacks” and every other victim of City Hall and the LA Times.
Pass the nachos.
